Petroleum Colorimeter ASTM D156 Saybolt Chromometer for Refined Oil
ASTM D156 Saybolt Chromometer is used to determine the color of refined liquid petroleum products, such as undyed automotive gasoline, aviation gasoline, jet fuel, naphtha, kerosene, and medicinal white oil. The Saybolt color refers to the numerical value of the liquid column height that is closest to one of the three standard color plates when observed through the sample liquid column for comparison with the standard color plates. Ranging from -16 (the darkest) to +30 (the lightest).
Significance and Use: The Saybolt color test (Saybolt Color) is used for quality control and product identification of refined products with an ASTM color of 0.5 or lower.
The determination of petroleum product color is mainly used in the control process of oil production. Since color is an important quality characteristic of petroleum products and is also a feature that users can easily observe. In some cases, color can reflect the degree of refinement of the product.
